BAMS, the short name for Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery course, is an undergraduate degree program designed in such a way that it makes students familiar with the integrated concept of Modern Medical Science and Traditional Medicines, i.e. it is focussed on Ayurveda. The duration of this course is 5.5 years including Internships.
BAMS course focuses on the Ayurvedic treatment of the disease along with modern medicine.
Ayurveda traces its roots to the Vedic Times. It is totally based on the marvellous properties of the herbs and its medicines are well known for their contents of natural elements.
Ayurveda has gained a lot of prominence in India as it is treated as the alternative method for the treatment of the diseases.
There are many diseases which are not treated by only the western medicine. But, with the help of Ayurveda a number of diseases are cured without any side effects.
The minimum academic requirements for getting admission in BAMS is 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as compulsory subjects.
The admission in the courses of BAMS 2025 is based on the marks obtained by the candidates in the NEET examination.
However, there are some colleges present in India where the admission in the BAMS course occurs even without the NEET score card.
